There is something special about pairing Holiday candy with wine.
A well-paired glass of wine can bring a lot of holiday cheer to any home or holiday soirée. If you’re entertaining during the holidays or cozying up on your sofa with a good book, here are a few Holiday candy and wine pairing to complete your Holiday mood.
HOLIDAY M&MS AND HERSHEY KISSES
During the holidays, we can expect the fun flavors of our favorite chocolate. If you’re a straight-up milk chocolate lover, it is best to pair it with a light- to medium-bodied fruity red wine like Pinot Noir or Merlot. Tawny port or sherry complements Caramel flavored kisses well. If you prefer a dry style of wine, then a fruity Shiraz is the best option. White chocolate kisses pair well with a semi-sweet wine like off-dry Riesling or Moscato d’Asti.
FERRERO ROCHER
Ferrero Rocher is a thing this time of year. These hazelnut chocolate balls pair well with Brachetto d’Acqui, a slightly sweet Italian red wine, or Shiraz.
CHOCOLATE COVERED PRETZELS
Every Sweet + Salty lover appreciates Chocolate dipped pretzels with holiday sprinkles. A slightly sweet white wine like Gewürztraminer or a bold red wine like Zinfandel makes for a decent couple.
GHIRARDELLI PEPPERMINT BARK
I love the ones from Trader Joe’s and William Sonoma as well — rich chocolate and peppermint make a perfect addition to any home during the holidays. These delicious squares pair well with a bold red wine, like Shiraz
CANDY CANES
No home is Holiday complete without the Holiday classic “Candy Canes” These minty sticks pair well with a Riesling or a slightly sweet sparkling wine like Prosecco.
