#BeautyMinute: Best Oils for Each Skin Type

Yesterday I celebrated my birthday. And although I have committed to publishing here Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. And on Instagram Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, I prioritized myself. Took time to reflect and contemplate the past year and this new year ahead. I did not publish on Instagram yesterday, and I did not plan to post here today either. But someone emailed me at noon asking if a #BeautyMinute will be published today.

So here it is, and it is about face oils. We will be back to our regular schedule next week Monday here and Instagram  on Thursday.

I have oily skin, and therefore my natural thought process was I do not need face oils. It will only make me greasy, and my skin would hate it. Those were, of course, thoughts with no supporting evidence or data to back them up. The truth is I do not need face oils, but they also do not make me greasy, and my skin adores them.

Here are the best face oils for every skin type:

  • Squalane
  • Evening Primrose oil
  • Hemp Seed Oil
  • Passionfruit Seed Oil
  • Rosehip Oil
  • Grapeseed Oil
  • Jojoba Oil
  • Prickly Pear Seed Oil
  • Safflower Oil
  • Watermelon Seed Oil
Disclaimer: I wouldn’t say I like Jojoba as much as other people have praised it — it does nothing for my skin.

  • Shea Butter
  • Grapeseed
  • Jojoba Oil
  • Sunflower Oil
  • Argan Oil
  • Almond Oil

  • Elderberry Oil
  • Almond Oil
  • Rosehip Oil
  • Grapeseed Oil
  • Prickly Pear Seed Oil

  • Almond Oil
  • Apricot Kernel Oil
  • Avocado Oil
  • Carrot Seed Oil
  • Coconut Oil (Body)
  • Mango Seed Butter
  • Marula Oil
  • Moringa Oil
  • Neem Oil
  • Olive Oil
  • Sea Buckthorn OIl
  • Shea Butter
  • Vitamin E

And there you have it. Do not be afraid to experiment with oils on your skin. It is essential to make sure you are using the best oil for your skin type, and oils are the last thing to use in your skincare regimen.

For example:

On my face — I apply all of my skincare products then apply oil to lock everything in. Or I apply Rosehip oil whenever I am derma planning. And grapeseed oil whenever I am using my gua sha tool.

On my body — I apply a serum, body lotion, then an oil. I also make sure my body is damp when I do all of this. In my 40s, my body has gotten drier, and this seems to quench its thirst.

Comment below. Do you have a favorite face oil or body oil?
