Why should you read an article about silk pillowcases for healthy skin and hair?
Like my friend Jezzy, many of you may think this is too much, and it may be, but making the switch from whatever you are currently using to silk pillowcases can undoubtedly help your skin and hair. Silk is a luxurious and soft material; it will not pull on your skin or cause friction with your hair. It helps minimize lines and wrinkles, dry and frizzy hair, breakage, and split ends.
Silk vs. Satin pillowcases? And how to buy silk pillowcases.
Silk is not as absorbent as cotton; therefore, it will not steal the moisture from your skin and hair. Have you ever wondered why you woke up with dry skin when you were so diligent with your evening beauty routine? Blame those cotton or polyester or flannel pillowcases. Remember, nighttime is the best time to repair skin, and we do spend one-third of our lives sleeping, so why not maximize the benefits we can achieve during those hours by using the right products.
First, look out for words such as “silk-like,” and second, consider the momme count.
Because satin is smooth and almost like silk, brands often market products made of satin with the words “silk-like.” But satin and silk are two different materials. Satin was a weave derived from silk and was very costly long ago. But I digress: Silk is a natural fiber, while satin is a blend of materials. As a result, satin tends to be cheaper than silk.
The standard momme ranges between 12 and 19. In contrast, the better quality momme ranges between 19 and 30. If this is your first time trying silk pillowcases, 19 momme count is an excellent place to start; however, if you want to experience a more luxurious option, start at 22 or 25 momme.
Read on for a brief description of each of my favorite silk pillowcases.
Slip Silk Pillowcases
I started here because of brand familiarity—I had used the brand’s silk eye masks before, so it was easy to choose. I love that it is machine washable, my curls are not frizzy in the morning, and it is impressive.

This 100 percent mulberry silk pillowcase from Brooklinen is luxurious and beautiful. They come in various colors, are cool to the touch, and help keep your hair and skin smooth. I bought these in Blush, and I love them.

Blissy Silk Pillowcases are handmade and crafted from high-quality 22-Momme 100% Pure Mulberry Silk. They have a variety of colors and are very elegant. I own the white and pink.
Cultiver Silk Linen Flip Pillowcase
Cultiver silk linen pillowcases are 100% Mulberry silk on one side and linen on the other. I Sleep on the slip silk side for the skin and hair benefits, and during the day, I display the linen side.
Fishers Finery Mulberry Silk Pillowcase
I love these pillowcases; they are 30 momme 100 percent mulberry silk, and because of the oversized envelope, they are more incredible than the others.
Beejoya Mulberry Silk Pillowcase
Beejoya’s silk pillowcases are 22 momme 100 percent mulberry silk. These are naturally hypoallergenic and OEKO-TEX 100 certified to be free of harmful substances and toxins.
