Dear Dahlings,
At times it takes life’s little twists and turns to truly remind us of what’s important and how we’d actually like to live our lives.
This month has been extremely challenging as I made every effort to balance my life, my work, my demanding clients and my dad being ill – it has not been easy and as I write this I am still figuring it out, I am sitting in Barnes & Noble so that I am as close to the hospital as possible.
Over the past few weeks, I have realized that in many ways I have been living from someplace in the past, I have been living reactively and most important I have allowed so many things to control my life that are in no way making my life better. I began to wonder at what point exactly did I get here and why did I have to wait for my dad to become ill to become aware of this. The reason I am sharing this is that I am quite sure many of you are where I am today.
You may not be dealing with a sick parent, but you may be going through your days reacting instead of thinking or being aware; or you may not have taken one second today to check in with yourself, or maybe you’re making your decisions today based on something that you experienced five or ten years ago.
Everywhere I turn there’s this push to love and accept myself but at what point do I awake to realize that many of the things we think about and use as our deciding factors in making decisions are from some experience in the past and that using old data to make decisions today will bring us the same old results or that the need/expectations for our friends, partners, family members or even strangers to treat us a certain way has become an obsession. The truth is we don’t actually need anyone to treat us better or be nicer to us for us to live a full and wonderful life.
My conclusion is that I don’t need to love and accept myself for who I am and eventually I will live my life the way I wish to – I believe I can actually start to change who I am today while keeping that intent of Love, Joy, Peace, Prosperity, Abundance and all the other things I’d like in my Life in the forefront with awareness, responsible action, and right thinking.
What I have written may or may not make sense to you but honestly think about your life, think about your days – are they pretty much the same every day? Do you have new experiences? Are you accomplishing the things you want to in your life? Do you have the same experiences over and over again (every day, or every week, or every month or possibly every year)? Take some time to think about those questions and see where it leads you.
