Here are Twenty Perfect Wine and Halloween sweets paring.
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup
The Reese cup presents the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Pair your peanut butter cup with a dark Jammy red like a Cabernet Sauvignon. Or the cherry aromas of a Morlot. However if you like Sherry, Oloroso Sherry balances the sweetness of the chocolate as well.
Kit Kat
My Halloween is never complete without a Kit Kat bar. And the perfect way to enjoy these wafers is with a Pinot Noir or a Merlot.
Choose a Cabernet Sauvignon if you enjoy a white chocolate Kit Kat bar.
Starburst
Bring out the flavors of the Starburst with a slightly sweet and slightly fizzy Moscato d’Asti. But if you are a Riesling lover, an off-dry Riesling also pairs well.
Twizzlers
I am not a Twizzlers fan, although I love Licorice, the Licorice-style sweet does not wow me. But if you are a lover of Twizzlers then a bottle of Grenache is the most versatile option.
Gummy Worms
Who does not love a few gummy worms? But I get the same comment every time I purchase them “they have no taste” well, try it with a glass of Rosé, and it will become your new favorite candy.
Candy Corn
Candy corn is one of my favorites. They are sweet and buttery and pair perfectly with a lovely buttery Chardonnay tha will not overpower the candy corn but experiment and try crisp and simple Prosecco or a Sparkling Riesling. Both are very fruit forward and compliment the marzipan like sweet.
Sour Patch
The perfect balance to this tart candy is a glass of Riesling.
Snickers Bar
A Tawny Port complements a snickers bar perfectly, but if you would like a wine as complex as this deli ious goodness, then a Cabernet Sauvignon. My aunt suggests a Sauternes and I believe I will try that this year.
Milky Way
A nice glass of Tawny Port or Ruby Port with a Milky Way bar is an excellent way to celebrate.
Smarties
Smarties has been around for a very long time and it is no doubt a beloved sweet. My mom loves them in all of their sweet wonderful flavors. The chalky to creamy texture pairs well with an off dry sparkling wine and Sekt is an excellent choice.
Hershey
For this gooey milk goodness, a glass of Pinot Noir or Merlot is a perfect companion, but a glass of richly fruited Zinfandel makes this candy a little less overwhelming and creates a luscious Experience.
Junior Mints
The dark chocolate and refreshing peppermint is the perfect sensory experience and matches well with a Cabernet Sauvignon. And do try the Halloween Spooky Junior Mint Chocolate Candy Movie Theater Box.
Skittles
This fruity goodness can be overly sweet. An off-dry Rosé pairs perfectly, but a lovely white Sauvignon Blanc is a great option to cut through all the sweetness without sacrificing taste.
Pop rocks
Here is another sweet I have never had however my niece says I am missing out. I am told that it begins to fizz and then there is an explosion in your mouth, it sounds fun and I also found out my friend Viviana loves the fizz and she pairs it with a Prosecco.
M & M
A medium-bodied fruity red Pinot Noir for this melt-in-your-mouth goodness. But a Gamay works well.
Nerds
My neices and nephews loves nerds, they are annoyingly small and I find them everywhere after they leave. I tried them for the first time a few weeks ago and they are not terrible. I love sweet, tart and fruity crunch Experience. If you enjoy a box of Nerds then a Cava is your best choice. This off dry sparkling is a very nice match.
Malted Milk Balls
These classic babies are the perfect companion to a Petite Sirah.
3 Musketeers
This fluffy creamy perfection pairs well with a bottle of Brachetto d’Acqui.
Jolly Ranchers
While I tend to give up Prosecco in the Autumn, there is no better way to enjoy a Jolly Rancher than with a glass of Prosecco.
Tootsie Roll
Chewy, cocoa-ey and sticky perfection is goodness in a wrapper and it is the perfect companion to the Ruby Port. The port offers just the right amount of sweetness and do not forget to chill it for twenty minutes before you open that bottle.
