A curated edit of Mother’s Day experiences in NYC, from a decade-long NoMad brunch tradition to a thermal sanctuary in Tribeca, meaningful, layered ways to celebrate her this May.

There is something about May in this city. It exhales. Tulips take root, the sun lingers, and the breeze finally decides to be kind. It is the kind of shift that invites us to pause, look up, reach out, and gather around a table with the women who held us together through quieter seasons.
Mother’s Day was never meant to be one size fits all. This year, we looked for luminous, layered experiences that mirror the women we are honoring. From a decade‑long legacy in NoMad to a thermal sanctuary in Tribeca, this is your invitation to go deeper, not bigger.

The Stand, Gramercy
Where Brunch Ends in Laughter
📍 Location: 116 East 16th Street — Gramercy, Manhattan | 🌐 Website: The Stand | Date: May 10, 2026 | Comedy Set: 6 PM — Sean Mahoney hosting | Reservations: OpenTable
The Stand keeps Mother’s Day loose, loud, and fun. Equal parts Northern Italian taverna and sharp‑witted stage, the room moves from savory brunch to comedy without losing momentum.
The B.E.C. Pizza, fired in the brick oven, is the early order. Spritzes arrive in sequence: Aperol, Blood Orange, Watermelon, and the house Sorrento Spritz. At 6 PM, the lights dim for a special Mother’s Day comedy set hosted by Sean Mahoney. Moms enter free. Dessert is on the house.
BKLS NOTE
If you want the full arc from brunch to comedy, plan your reservation around the 6 PM set.

When brunch feels too loud and flowers too expected, the Guggenheim offers something quieter. The museum’s Mother’s Day Celebration of Intergenerational Care centers on the Carol Bove survey exhibition, one of the major Rotunda presentations of the year.
The day opens with a Welcome Tea in the rotunda from 11 AM to noon. Families move through hands‑on art‑making, including Loving Sculptures on Level 4, inspired by Bove’s Rich Mom [2018]. Artist‑designed chess tables are available throughout the building. The Tactile Library invites visitors to handle materials that shaped the exhibition. A participatory performance, The Inner Light, runs throughout the afternoon.

Tickets include full museum admission. Free for members. Register at Guggenheim.

Let This Be the Year It Feels Personal
Mother’s Day in New York is not a checklist. It is a series of small, intentional choices that say: I see you. I know you. I want to celebrate you in a way that feels true.
Whether it is laughter over a comedy set, a quiet afternoon in the baths, a fragrance built note by note, or a glass raised in a sunlit SoHo corner, choose the experience that mirrors her spirit. The city is generous in May. Let it show.
