On the spookiest night of the year, I am lighting my favorite pumpkin spice candle and cozying up on my sofa with a feel-good movie, a glass of wine, and a white chocolate Kit Kat bar. Today we are sharing our guide to Candy + Wine Pairings: The Perfect Wine for your Halloween Candy
Maybe you are planning a night like mine. Or having a mini soirée with a few friends. Whatever your plans are, did you know that candy and wine make the perfect pairing? And you do not need a sommelier to help you get it right. For a next-level experience, all you need is delicious candy and the right glass of wine.
Here are 13 Perfect Wine + Candy Pairings you will Love:
Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup
With the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Pair your peanut butter cup pairs nicely with a dark Jammy red like a Cabernet Sauvignon. Or the cherry aromas of a Morlot.
Kit Kat
My Halloween is never complete without a Kit Kat bar. And the perfect way to enjoy these wafers is a Pinot Noir or a Merlot.
Opt for a Cabernet Sauvignon glass if you are enjoying a white chocolate Kit Kat bar.
Starburst
Bring out the flavors with a slightly sweet and slightly fizzy Moscato d’Asti.
Gummy Worms
Who does not love a few gummy worms? But I get the same comment every time I purchase them “they have no taste” well, try it with a glass of Rosé, and it will become your new favorite candy.
Candy Corn
Candy corn is one of my favorites. They are sweet and butter and pair perfectly with a nice buttery Chardonnay that does not overpower the candy corn.
Sour Patch
The perfect balance to this tart candy is a glass of Riesling.
Snickers Bar
A Tawny Port complements a snickers bar perfectly, but if you’d like wine as complex as this delicious goodness, then a Cabernet Sauvignon.
Milky Way
A nice glass of Tawny Port with a Milky Way bar is an excellent way to celebrate.
Hershey
For this gooey milk goodness, a glass of Pinot Noir or Merlot is a perfect companion, but a glass of Zinfandel makes this candy a little less overwhelming.
Skittles
Are fruity goodness, but it can be overly sweet. An off-dry Rosé pairs perfectly, but a lovely white Sauvignon Blanc is a great option to cut through all the sweetness without sacrificing taste.
M & M
A medium-bodied fruity red Pinot Noir for this melt in your mouth goodness.
Malted Milk Balls
These classic babies are the perfect companion to a Petite Sirah.
Jolly Ranchers
While I tend to give up Prosecco in the Autumn. There is no better way to enjoy a Jolly Rancher than with a glass of Prosecco.
