Self-proclaimed “Premier Brooklyn Restaurant” Woodland NYC could be onto something. Sitting boldly at the corners of Flatbush and 6th Avenues, just a few blocks from the Barclay Center, this open floor plan space with exposed brick walls possess a warmth usually not felt in a space of its size. As you get used to the warm welcoming environment to be prepared to receive some serious attention. The staff is knowledgeable, very very attentive, generous and friendly – the manager Chris Forde was kind to take a few minutes to speak with me.
With an impressive cocktail list, delicious desserts and a wonderfully crafted menu there is something for everyone to get excited about. Some of my yummy favorites are Roasted spaghetti squash, pan-seared king salmon, steamed red snapper and grilled skirt steak – oh and desserts…did I mention those :).
Opened in 2012 owners Robert and John are from Russia but describe their cuisine as “New American” (I kinda like that). I know there are many choices surrounding Woodland NYC but they are definitely worth a try – you may be surprised by a yummy special – last time I was there it was panned seared scallops on Sauteed cauliflower puree and boy oh boy was it delicious.
