I love Spring in New York City. It is one of my favorite seasons. Although these days are much warmer than a typical Spring day, I enjoy being out more. One of my markers for gorgeous weather is the reopening of Rooftops and patios and creative, tasty Spring/Summer Cocktail menus. Today we are discussing Sweet Brooklyn Bar & Grill, its next-level Cocktail menu, and well-prepared delectable food to experience and explore.
Sweet Brooklyn Bar & Grill
Sweet Brooklyn Bar is the place to Sit, Sip, and Socialize. This Woman and Black-Owned Brooklyn bar & grill is sister to Restaurant Sweet Catch BK and is located in the heart of Crown Heights. It has great vibes, incredible Cocktails, and well-prepared comfort food.
This Cozy Bar is all about the Cocktails and Culture. Outfitted with ample seating and offers a nice variety of food to compliment the creative Cocktail menu. It is an excellent place to grab a drink, celebrate with friends, or have a simple date night.
There are countless ways to experience this small but vibrant space, from Happy Hour to Brunch. Sweet Brooklyn Bar features a daily Happy Hour from 4 to 7 PM Monday through Friday with goodies like $10 wings and Tacos, $6 beers and wines, et cetera. In addition, the $50 [parties of one to nine], $55 [parties of 10 to 15], and $60 [parties of 16+] per person Brunch menu includes one hour of Bellini or Mimosas with any entrée.
My Experience
I like spaces with great ambiance, but when paired with food that causes my senses to come alive, drinks that make me want to stay a while, and the overall experience creates the perfect mood, I will likely visit many times. And that is what I loved about Sweet Brooklyn Bar – the overall experience was pleasurable.
My sister and I visited Sweet Brooklyn Bar last Thursday and had a lovely time. It was our first visit, and we were not disappointed. And an excellent opportunity to experience the service, taste the food and explore the new next-level Cocktail Menu. It was a hybrid evening with an influencer happy hour and regular guests dining and having Cocktails.
Although it was a busy night at Sweet Brooklyn Bar, it was pleasing to see the attentiveness and the level of service each guest was given.
From the initial greeting to the length of time the order was initiated to the level of friendliness each server displayed – I could see that everyone was pleased and was having an enjoyable night.
Overall my experience was A+. The DJ played tunes that made us sing along and provided the perfect addition to the rest of the mood in the space. The seating style encouraged conversations and a chance to meet new people.
In addition, I had the opportunity to meet one of my favorite content creators, Camille Wilson. She is the creator of The Cocktail Snob on Instagram and the author of Free Spirits Cocktails. She is one of my favorite Cocktail Content Creators – she was approachable, humble, and friendly. It was indeed a pleasure.
The Food and Cocktail menus at Sweet Brooklyn Bar
Food
From Shrimp Tacos to Mac and Cheese — here are my favorites.
The amazing wings come in flavors: Sweet Chili, Dry Rub, and Jerk. The dry rub is my favorite, but the Jerk is oh-so-delicious. While not a true Jerk with all of the spices and spiciness. The flavor was interesting and worth ordering. You will not be disappointed.
The Mac and Cheese with Lobster have a beautiful crusted top. It was delightfully creamy with large-sized bites of lobster.
The Buttermilk fried Shrimp featured nice-sized Shrimp seasoned to perfection.
I am not fond of fried food, but the Fried Catfish Sandwich with Cheese was remarkable. Drenched in the perfect amount of chipotle aioli and balanced with pickled onions and tomatoes provided one of the best savory experiences.
The Shrimp Tacos were scrumptious – put together with a few basic ingredients that delivered a lovely taste and many flavors.
And the loaded french fries are a MUST order.
Cocktails
While the food will make me visit again – the cocktails are the star of the show. Crafted to perfection and well garnished.
While the drink menu features classics like Mojito, Old Fashion, et cetera, the Cocktails + Culture section is where it gets exciting. It is a next-level menu featuring a curated selection of Sweet Brooklyn signature cocktails. Here are my favorites:
Purple Rain [vodka, lavender syrup, lime, ginger beer]. The Purple Rain is an elegant, mellow drink with a mild flavor of lavender, just the right amount of sweetness, and delicate flavors of lime and ginger beer.
Lush Life [cognac, chinola, sorrel, lemon, sparkling rose, bitters]. The Lush Life Cocktail is a little robust with a medium sweetness and is rich.
Smokey Robinson [mezcal, tequila, blue curacao, orgeat, guava, peychaud’s bitters, lime]. The Smokey Robinson is an exceptional drink that is refreshing and crisp.
Gold Fashion [rye, cognac, banana liqueur, fernet, banana essence]. The Gold Fashion Cocktail was a little rough, with some sweet, spicy, and fruity notes.
Although I have listed my favorites from the Food and Drink menus – these were the dishes and Cocktails I tried. I am excited to try the rest of the menu and have planned my next visit.
Sweet Bar Brooklyn will celebrate their seventh anniversary the week of May 24. So follow their Instagram page and check their website for special announcements. And make a reservation via Resy to experience this lively bar & grill.
