I live for the early evening takeouts, a great bottle of wine, and engaging conversation at a quiet place somewhere around Brooklyn. It’s one of the few things that has kept me sane. 

I’m not trying new restaurants these days. Nevertheless, I have a list of my favorites. The ones I love and are familiar with. Fornino is one of those restaurants. They decided to close temporarily. As a result I was disappointed. When you’re a New Yorker nothing compares to a delicious bottle of red and a pie on a beautiful Spring evening. 

I’ve written about Fornino several times but I wanted to remind you of what makes Fornino so unique. 

Ordering a Fornino pizza is to expect perfectly made pie every time. The taste, and the dough are always consistent. The science is in the dough. The dough allows for each pizza to come out perfect every single time. No matter the day, weather or amount of toppings. You can expect to receive the perfect pie delivered straight to your doorstep every time.

Delivery and takeout will resume effective Friday, May 1st, from Fornino’s Greenpoint location. Yay!!

Fornino has a great offering of over 20 wood-fired pizza varieties including their: 

• Classic Margherita
• The Tre-Carni (with soppressata, fennel sausage, prosciutto, tomato and mozzarella).
• The Bianca (with mozzarella, ricotta, arugula, red onion, olive oil, pecorino). 
• The Al Roker (which was named by the television personality himself with soppressata piccante, fontina, caramelized onions, roast pepper, tomato, mozzarella and rosemary).

The menu includes Anna Rose’s Meatballs, Fried Smashed Potatoes and Eggplant Parmesan. You will not be disappointed they are delicious. You can now add a bottle of wine, beer or your favorite non-alcoholic beverage to your order.

My favorite pies from Fornino are The Al Roker, Bianca, Classic Margherita and Margherita DOC.

Delivery will be available from tomorrow May 1st from their Greenpoint Location ONLY. Delivery|Takeout days + Time are as follows:

• Friday and Saturday 5 to 9:30 PM
• Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday 5 to 9 PM

I’m happy they are reopening for delivery|takeout — it brings a sort of hope and a level of normalcy. And I can’t wait to have a delicious Al Roker.
